Survival Gear for Living Off the Grid

Looking to kick off a bug out bag or work on some prepping for a life off the grid? There are a ton of different kinds of survival gear that you can shop for to get you started on whatever prepping or starting to search for WTSHTF resources. Check out some of the categories and types that you might want to consider when you are doing some of your prep work.

Types of Survival Tools

  • Tools - multitools and outdoor tools like collapsible shovels are a favorite choice among preppers
  • Space Blankets - really, any blanket that is easy and compact to store and fold, but still provides ample warmth. Space blankets are certainly a favorite!
  • Water Purification tools - whether it is purification tablets, filters, or specialty straws! There are a ton of ways to make sure that you will always have access to clean drinking water.
  • Fire Starting Kit - you might find that you enjoy making fires from scratch, but if you are looking for a way to speed up the process, there are many various types of fire-starting kits that include waterproof matches, flint, or even specialty logs.
  • Duct Tape - Almost universally considered one of the best utility tools to have on hand.
  • Pots/Mugs - you want some metal, lightweight pots and mugs that are easy to use outside and wash clean with no hassle. You want to make sure that you have a well-stocked inventory of metal pots, pans, mugs, and other useful kitchenware items to suite any cooking or food-related prep you might need to do.
  • Emergency Ponchos/Coats - make sure that any bug out bag or kit that you might put together has at least one emergency poncho or rain jacket for each individual prepper.
